Burnley boss Dyche backing Taylor for England callby Paul Vegas13 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveBurnley boss Sean Dyche says Charlie Taylor can win an England call in the future. The left back only made his first Premier League appearance of the season off the bench against Everton on Saturday. “I think it’s interesting for me, over these years, and now we’re very confidently talking about Burnley players being in the England squad,” Dyche said.“I remember when Tom Heaton got his first call up, it was ‘wow, Burnley haven’t had an England player for however many years’, and now we’re talking about it free and easy, saying, okay, Tom, Keano (Michael Keane), Corky (Jack Cork) got one out of the blue of course, you could argue last season for Westy (Ashley Westwood), just if you were going on form, and performances.“I still think there’s a lot of room and time for Charlie Taylor to go into that thinking, along his development line. Erik’s doing well at the moment, but that doesn’t mean I’ve got a lack of belief in Charlie.“It’s good to say Burnley players are being talked about as freely as we are with the national side, and other international players as well.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

(Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)Everyone probably knew that Clemson would blow out Louisville football today. The Tigers are cruising to the College Football Playoff, and the post-Lamar Jackson era Cardinals have sunk to the bottom of the ACC.I don’t think even the most optimistic Clemson fan would’ve called today’s score though. The Tigers rolled to a 77-16 win at home. Things were so bad, that Trevor Lawrence only threw 12 passes for 59 yards before leaving the game for Chase Brice.Clemson’s rushing statistics are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. As a team, the Tigers ran the ball 37 times for 492 yards and five scores.Three guys—Travis Etienne, Lyn-J Dixon, and Tavien Feaster—broke 100 yards, but none carried the rock more than eight times. In total, 14 players recorded carries according to ESPN’s box score.Looking for an upset win by Louisville football was too much, but this performance might be the final nail in a well-secured coffin for Bobby Petrino’s tenure at UL.SB Nation‘s Jason Kirk is not a Louisville fan, but even he didn’t waste time in summing things up with his post on the game.https://t.co/Hko6ZxZPiz— Jason Kirk (@JasonKirkSBN) November 3, 2018Things were so bad today, that Dabo Swinney found a way to get his son Will, a walk-on, a score. Will Swinney is in for the TD!And looks like Dabo couldn’t be happier ? pic.twitter.com/qjhPHrWky7— ESPN CollegeFootball (@ESPNCFB) November 3, 2018The name everyone points to as the next Louisville coach is Jeff Brohm. NORMAN, OK – SEPTEMBER 22: Quarterback Kyler Murray #1 of the Oklahoma Sooners throws during warm ups before the game against the Army Black Knights at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 22, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners defeated the Black Knights 28-21 in overtime. (Photo by Brett Deering/Getty Images)When the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft gets underway next Thursday, there is a chance Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray’s name is called with the No. 1 overall pick. If it isn’t, the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner shouldn’t have to wait long to be chosen. It has been a whirlwind few months for Murray, who the Oakland A’s selected with the ninth overall pick of last June’s MLB Draft. It was a bold move, especially considering Oakland agreed to give Murray a $4.6 million bonus to sign with them and commit to baseball. However, after a huge fall on the gridiron, many began to wonder if Murray would have a change of heart. Eventually, he did, and spurned the A’s to pursue his football career.Murray has to pay back the portion of his bonus that he’s already received, as well as forfeit the rest of it. According to Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko, the $4.6 million is only the beginning of what Murray is giving up by picking football.Per Klemko’s latest feature, the A’s offered Murray eight figures in guaranteed money when they tried to persuade him to stick with baseball earlier this winter. Here’s what Murray wasn’t disclosing, though. According to a source close to the family, the A’s contingent that visited Kyler in January offered him a contract worth $14 million in guaranteed cash, in addition to his signing bonus. (The deal would have required that Oakland take the extreme step of adding Murray to its 40-man roster and would have paid out a figure similar to that of a top 10 NFL draft pick. For context, Bears linebacker Roquan Smith, who went eighth in 2018, signed a four-year deal worth $18.5 million.) But Kyler turned down that offer, and his family has kept those financials out of the media. That’s a strong offer by Oakland. Sure, Murray would have a way to go before he could earn a lucrative major league contract, but $14 million just to get your foot in the door is tough to turn down.Murray has been rumored to be the preferred target of the Arizona Cardinals, who owns the No. 1 pick, throughout this offseason. However, Arizona would presumably need to work out a trade of last year’s first-round pick, quarterback Josh Rosen, to make room for Murray. The 2019 NFL Draft will be held April 25-27 in Nashville.
Amritanshu Mukherjee New DelhiJanuary 23, 2019UPDATED: January 24, 2019 10:34 IST HIGHLIGHTSNew software technology will boost GPU performance on its smartphones. The feature is called the Neuro Game Booster technology for now officially.Huawei came up with its GPU Turbo technology on select Huawei and Honor smartphones.Samsung has been lately on its toes when it comes to innovation in the smartphone space. At the Samsung Developer Conference 2018, it proudly showed-off their first foldable smartphone prototype and announced to make it commercial sometime in 2019. It also wooed the world with its anti-notch solution in the form of punch-hole displays, also known as Infinity-O display. Samsung also catered to breeding grounds of gamers with its Galaxy Note 9 last year. It seems that Samsung has taken its affiliation with the world of gaming a bit seriously and is working on several features for next-gen Galaxy smartphones.A new media report states that Samsung is working on a new software technology that will boost GPU performance on its smartphones. The technology has been registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (UIPO) under the name of Neuro Game Booster technology. While the patent registration hasn’t mentioned how the technology works, it seems that Samsung will be relying on neural networks that Android and the next-generation chipsets will offer. However, this isn’t the first time such a kind of technology has come to our knowledge. In the past, Huawei came up with its GPU Turbo technology on select Huawei and Honor smartphones. Huawei’s technology worked on a different principle, wherein the GPU stored the rendered frames in the cache memory for a while. The CPU would then re-use the pre-rendered frames to reduce the stress on the GPU and cut down on processing time. This was particularly helpful if the same scene is repeated in a particular game. The GPU Turbo technology delivered higher frame rates in demanding games, making the overall gameplay experience smoother.advertisementIn the case of Samsung’s technology, it remains to be seen what kind of underlying technology is used to boost GPU performance. The next generation chips and modern software will let Samsung exploit artificial intelligence to possibly reduce the stress on the GPU and offer higher frame rates. The effects of the technology won’t be evident on the high-end models, but midrange models could be able to benefit from the technology with less-powerful internals. As of now, it’s now known whether Samsung will deliver this technology to its existing lineup of Galaxy smartphones. The flagship models such as the Note 9 and S9 have a high chance of getting the Neuro Game Booster Technology. However, the current crop of Galaxy A series and J series smartphones could highly benefit from such technology in place. It also remains to be seen whether the game boost technology will only be limited to its Exynos chips or trickle down to the models sporting Qualcomm chipsets.ALSO READ | Samsung Galaxy Fold may offer a smaller battery than Galaxy A70, new leak suggestsALSO READ | Exclusive: Samsung to launch Galaxy M10 at Rs 8,990, M20 at Rs 12,990ALSO READ | Samsung Galaxy M10 may come with 6.2-inch Infinity-V display, Exynos chipGet real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? Kohli has been absolutely successful at No.3 and we are trying options before the World Cup.”Definitely there are certain areas we need to address both in batting and bowling. We have been thrown in areas we need to work on and that is a great learning experience before the World Cup.”Arun was full of praises for both Kedar Jadhav and all-rounder Vijay Shankar.”Vijay has gained in confidence, batted brilliantly, be it No.4, 6 or 7. The confidence from batting rubbed onto his bowling. He is touching 130 (kmph) and is looking a lot more confident.”Kedar has also done the job on many occasions. But I have told my bowlers that as long as you don’t let him bowl, you have done a good job,” he smiled.Commenting on the camouflage caps controversy created by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Arun said: “I think we did what we felt we needed to do for the country. We wanted to show we appreciate the cause. It is beyond us to think or control what PCB thinks.”Also Read | Bishan Bedi’s message for Virat Kohli: Calm mind ultimate weapon against any challengeAlso Read | Virat Kohli’s India face risk of unwanted record in ODI series vs AustraliaAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Aditya K Halder New DelhiApril 8, 2019UPDATED: April 8, 2019 09:17 IST IPL 2019: Avesh Khan has played only one match so far this season (Courtesy by BCCI)Delhi Capitals Avesh Khan became the talk of the town last season – while playing for Daredevils – when he picked the scalp of Kings XI Punjab’s Aaron Finch with a ferocious 148.7kmph delivery. The 22-year-old since then has been under the selector’s radar and was picked for the India A side after an impressive Ranji season, which was highlighted with an impressive 7-for against Hyderabad. However, T20 is a demanding game and requires a bowler to have variations in order to succeed in a format that is so brutal on the bowler. The Madhya Pradesh speedster has recognised such a daunting requirement of the game and has been working on variations including yorkers.”I have worked on two-three variations in my bowling during the season as it is an important aspect in T20 to surprise a batsman,” Avesh told Mail Today. “For example, I trained on wide yorkers and stump yorkers using a coin to land the ball at the place I want to. I also had to work on other variations too”With the inclusion of Ishant Sharma and availability of players like Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada, the natural pacer is finding it hard to break into the playing XI this season and has made a solitary appearance. But Avesh is not buoyed by the tough competitions; in fact, believes his chances will come sooner or later.”I don’t think so it’s a bad thing to have such competitions. Actually having likes of Rabada and Ishant bhai during a match will help me in getting tips and set fielders during a live situation using their experience. It is something I didn’t get last season,” Avesh explained.advertisementDelhi, who have blown hot and cold this season so far, are finding it hard to score lower down the order and made a mockery of themselves when they lost seven wickets in space of eight runs to Kings XI Punjab.Avesh revealed he and others have been batting in the nets too this season to especially prepare for situations where the need for big hitting arrives.”I have been spending time on the nets and batting coach Pravin Amre have been training the tailenders to work on batting in a situation where runs need to be scored quickly,” he revealed. However, coach Ricky Ponting has made his thoughts clear about his intentions with the bowlers: bowl as fast as possible.”Ponting has always shown faith in me and he always backed me to bowl fast deliveries. Even when I am not in the team he always asks me not to lose hope and be prepared to bowl as fast possible when my chance comes,” concluded Avesh.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
